Our Story

ÓRALE, based in Long Beach, California, is leading an intergenerational movement of immigrants abolishing oppressive systems and creating liberatory practices grounded in healing, love, and justice. ÓRALE advocates and organizes to transform the systems and power structures (i.e., laws, budgets and policies) that impact the Long Beach community. It supports the leadership development of immigrant leaders through political education, leadership programs, wellness resources, and shared advocacy. ÓRALE is an integral force in local, state, and national coalitions that are advancing intersectional movements for justice.

ÓRALE envisions a world where immigrant communities live in dignity, feel safe, and have opportunities to thrive. It understands that in order to successfully advocate for  legal rights communities must first have their material needs met. ÓRALE addresses food scarcity and health needs in the community through wellness and food programs. These programs offer a space for folks to receive food and learn broad political education, and often serve as an entry point to ÓRALE’s political education and community-led campaign work. The wellness program is also an opportunity for people to be introduced to new forms of movement and healing, including yoga.
